See if this helps. MBR has info about four partitions
with one being set as bootable (bootable flag in
partition table). Check if this is set if it is set
then add a entry in boot loader. This is what bios
does to boot the system (loads the boot record from a
partition which is set as bootable if MBR has no
executable code).
