IMAP is Interactive Mail Access protocol.This Service normally listens on
TCP/IP port 143.
Few differences between POP and IMAP are
The message parsing is done at the server side in IMAP.
It supports multiple folders.
You can use pine to access the imap service.
The configuration variable in pine is
inbox-path={IPof Imap server:port in which it listens}
