Is there a market in India for 1TB to 6TB external
sata storage appliance attahment to Linux servers ?
What Raid levels it must support ?
How inexpensive it should be for entry level ?
Not really the answer to your query, but AMI
(American Megatrends) makes a 1U x86 embedded Linux
NAS appliance that supports 4 hot-swap SCSI drives
and connects via gigabit ethernet. This is available
in India for ~$4000 (~Rs. 1.75 lakhs) without
SCSI drives (probably not what can be called
entry level).
I'm not sure about its innards, but it's probably
a Samba box that connects to mainly Windows networks
(perhaps with an NFS option also).
