[Ilugc] Problem in slackware 10.1

   I am using Slackware 10.1.I getting the below 
mentioned problems when to log into init level 3 or
init level 4(KDE).
              1. I am not able to switch from KDE 
to 
konsole(ctrl-alt-F{1,2,3,5,6}) keys.My monitor
becomes blank and I am not also able to 
switch to KDE again (ctrl-alt-F7).
              2. Each time I have to type init
command to reboot and 
halt the system and also the shutdown scripts  are
not visible,ie my 
screen turns into blank.

   
     I tried to solve the problem by passing kernel
option "vga=normal"  
during booting but it doesnt work.
                              Any Suggestions

Think your X is not configured properly. Try fixing
your /etc/X11/XF86Config or /etc/X11/xorg.conf (  I
don't know which one is used by Slackware). XFree86 or
X.org? Most likely the former.

If you can get X running you can use the "xf86cfg"
command to fine tune your X installation. Are you
getting a good resolution? Or ugly looking large
windows?

I think slackware will have its own script for X
configuration. Run that.

If you send us the "lspci" output I think someone with
your video card will be able to give you hints on the
right parameters. 

If you can access the machine from the network it will
be best to kill X and access the virtual consoles.
