[Ilugc] Preventing a file from being updated in CVS

Is it possible to prevent a file in a CVS tree from being subject to
further updates. I would like to have a local version of those files,
and would not like CVS to try merging or reporting conflicts on those
files.
I guess, it's not a general practice. CVS is a VC used for distributed
development. Why do you wish to have a file in CVS and prevent it from
updates done by other developers ? If you wish to prevent, it's also
good to have it out of the repository.
