I have a 80G hard disk and would like to set up a multi boot system,
including FC4, Ubuntu, Mepis and keep some space free for others too.
What would be a neat and tidy partition plan?
The partitions used now are:
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda1 66G 15G 48G 24% /mnt/hda1 =>Ubuntu
/dev/hda2 13G 8.1G 4.0G 68% / =>FC4
/dev/shm 98M 0 98M 0% /dev/shm
FC4 / looks like this:
bin dev home lost+found misc net proc sbin srv tftpboot usr
boot etc lib media mnt opt root selinux sys tmp var
and Ubuntu /:
bin cdrom etc initrd lib32 lost+found mnt proc sbin sys
ubuntu386
var boot dev home lib lib64 media opt root srv
tmp usr
/etc, /bin, /sbin, /lib*, and /dev* and other os specific dirs are not
shareable across the os'es, and probably anything from 1GB to 12GB
could be set aside for each os. What is the best plan for the others?
Partition Size Type Mountpoint Bootable
----------------------------------------------------------------
/dev/hda1 20MB 43 (PReP Boot) (Not mounted) yes
/dev/hda2 133MB 82 (Linux Swap) (Not mounted) -
/dev/hda3 ??GB 83 (Linux ext2) / (Root partition) -
/dev/hda4 ??GB 83 (Linux ext2) /home -
/dev/hda5 ??GB 83 (Linux ext2) /usr/local
?? ??
Thanks,
Ramanraj.
