About
Two day workshop in partnership with WikimediaIndia aimed at contributing
to topics related to the natural world (birds, plants, frogs, insects,
geology...) around us on Wikipedia while also learning in the process. The
workshop will be led by Shyamal Lakshminarayanan

Dates : 14th and 15th November, 2015
10 am - 3 pm

Day 1 :
Morning :
Session on history, philosophy and social dynamics of Wikipedia
Session on basics of researching and editing
Working lunch.
Afternoon :
Hands-on editing on a few topics we choose ( will setup a wikipage for this)
Day 2 :
Short session on copyrights, licensing and Wikimedia commons
Uploading media based on certain topics
Working lunch.
Editing based on the media uploaded
Prerequisites: You ideally have a deep interest in the natural world (the
Earth, climate, plants, animals) around you and routinely seek information
and read up on the subject, good knowledge of English, reasonable level of
Internet savviness, and a laptop. Also register yourself on Wikipedia so
that have a login and password.
