I was wondering if anyone on the list knew whether or not wireless
setups have been de-licensed. I'm looking to set up a wireless
transmitter in the middle of my city to beam a community living a little
far away access to broadband internet, because touchtel doesn't reach
that far out. I want to find out where or not it is legal. I think it
has been de-licensed for internal community usage, but whether i would
be allowed to do it for this particular purpose is what i would like to
find out.
Internal community usage as in "you can get an internet connection in by
other means, like broadband, leased line or VSAT, and then set up WiFi
access points inside your community to share the connection"
Setting up transmitters and repeaters in the city would surely mean that
you are going to run into ISP license issues.
And another thing you really must take into account is that what you
propose requires line of sight between your tower and the destination.
