No one allocates IP for your domain. You just own your domainname. You
go to some webhosting service provider (or your home) and host your
domain there.

considering i want to run a webserver from my house for a change, now can
i run registered domain from my house directly.

what i am trying to ask is how does this IP thing work in this case. if
ip is allocated to the system where the domain can be found , then do u
have to register for a new ip when u change the location of the website?

You own the domain. You would have registered your domain with someone
like namecheap.com or verisign, etc. You can tell them which DNS server
handles your domain. So you have to set up a DNS server which maps the
domain name to IP.


I know my questions arent very clear but i could figure out a better way
to put it. morever i do not know exact meaning & usage of the word
'domain', so bear with it C:
