[Ilugc] [OT] CRWriter for laptop

I have a laptop with CDROM, i want to upgrade it to a CRWriter or a
Combo one,
not an external ,
so does anybody has an experience or knowledge of where it can be done?
In principle, it can be done. However, it's extremely difficult to
get a notebook CD-RW or Combo drive separately at retail in India.
Your best bet is through EBay (US) and get it shipped to a friend.
There are lots of issues that you have to look out for, including
BIOS support, physical size (thickness as well as depth - both these
vary), shape (older drives were rectangular, newer ones have one
5 sides with one angular side), and bezel shape (these vary greatly
from model to model). Any or all of these can put paid to an upgrade
attempt, so it's not for the faint-of-heart.
Your odds of doing this successfully are higher for no-name 2nd-tier
brands (which tend to be more standardized) and for notebooks with
user-removable caddy-based drives (some Thinkpads, Dells, Toshibas).
