Though I've tried out many distros, am a beginner to intermediate kind of
user. I find Debian Sarge, Ubuntu Dapper and Vector 5.1 equally fast on my
good old hardware and easy to use too. Infact Dapper boots much faster than
Breezy or Debian Sarge too. All 3 are equally recommendable for beginners.
Infact Ubuntu Dapper would be at the 1st place, does'nt even give you the
pain of choosing typical packages (assuming you have about 5-6 GB to
allocate for linux.
Vector...everything except I had to manually configure the boot loader from
Ubuntu's GRUB (run a Ubuntu-Vector dual boot). Thats bcos I had booting
problems, even booting Vector from the LILO Vector installed. Windoze booted
without any problems then.
