Towards our achievement of promoting FOSS in education, yesterday LinuXpert

and Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology (AVIT) of Vinayaka Missions
University has signed
an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote GNU/Linux, Free Open Source
softwares in the institution from the current academic year.
Also proposed to conduct a two day FOSS seminar by first week of August and the
date
will be finalised by second week of june.
The following topics has been planned for the two days programme.
Day-1:
1. Introduction to FOSS in education (by me)
2. Object Oriented and Visual Programming in Linux (python and qt)
Day-2:
3. Open source databases and Web programming (using LAMP architecture)
4. Embedded Systems and GNU Linux (preferably mobile related applications with
demonstration)
5. Interactive session with students reg. academic projects and career
opportunities
We are currently looking for resource persons from LUG-C to conduct topics of 2
to 4.
