What version of OpenLDAP and on what platform?
What client are you using to query the slave LDAP server? IIRC, OpenLDAP
clients don't automatically chase referrals, so I assume it is some
other client - perhaps a PHP based thingy?. If so, the client most
probably does not have a rebind function defined.
