exporting JAVA_PATH and JAVA_HOME are useful only to the jre (when it wants to
know where to look for libs/bins). So, you also need to setup your system to
select the correct java binary.
See what is the output of:
$ ls -l `which java`
You may have to use the update-alternatives command to set this correctly (man
alternatives).
