Dear Vishnu,
I came across your post in Chennai LUG while googling to find a solution
to
this problem of mine: I have a Frontech ECam JIL-2219 which works fine
in
windows, but I am unable to find a driver for the same in Linux. Can I
install it and use it in Linux just as well? I use Fedora Core 7 with
kernel
2.6.22.1-27.fc7 on an athlon 3000 machine (My OS is still 32 bit). I
would
really appreciate your help. Thank you for your time.
Regards,
Mohar

Hi Mohar,get.
Yes it should be possible.
First try to get your chipset on the webcam.
type `lsusb` on your terminal to list all the USB devices attached.
My webcam was having a Sunplus chipset.
Based on that I installed spca5xx drivers. Just google for spca5xx you
will get it.
The driver is present in SF@
http://spca50x.sourceforge.net/spca50x.php
You need to download the driver and install it. It is a Kernel Module.
But, I don't think all Frontech Webcam uses the same chipset. First
try lsusb and confirm it as a sunplus chipset.
If you find a different chipset name try to search for that. You sure will
Best of luck.
bye,
V.Vishnu

Dear Vishnu,
Thank you for your prompt reply. I tried lsusb, it lists the following line
as output:
Bus 005 Device 002: ID 0c45:627b Microdia
I have googled for "Microdia" "0c45:627b" etc and but have found so many
sites with different messages: driver not supported or under development.
Could you please help me out?
Thanking you,
Mohar
