Sorry if this is a stupid question, but my google-fu has been weak. Is there a
portal (or something to the effect) for Indian Government FLOSS initiatives? I
spent a silly amount of time trying to track down the much-publicised work on
localising Linux and OOo before the release (?) announcement of
http://bosslinux.in/ was posted. Given the absence or staleness of sites
related to BharateeyaOOo I can only assume that work has been absorbed into
OpenOffice core localisation projects. In particular, I have recently been
informed of the existence of a project building software for medical practices
targetting rural India, but given past disappointments, and not much idea of
where to start, I am not very hopeful of my chance to track this down.
Surely there's some place where information and more importantly links to these
projects is collated?
Alternatively, can anyone report on simple FLOSS solutions for a rural medical
practice? Honestly the biggest barrier to entry is frequent power failures, but
I'm in the process of building a patient database using that wonderful tool
called a Spreadsheet, and the question has been raised as to the feasibility of
computerising a lot more of their work. If I can find a suitable software
solution, funds for a suitable UPS can be raised :-).
