I have not heard this before. I guess the ARM
processors which rule the
embedded world, would rank better as far as power
consumption is concerned.

Totally agree. ARM rockz. Their power management
controller (PMC) is very powerful and flexible. For
example, in AT91 it controls thirty peripheral clocks
and four programmable clocks. It uses four operating
modes Normal, Idle, Slow Clock and Standby operating
modes, which allows us to suspend/resume devices as
and when required.
