hi techies ,
First of all,i apologise for using sms language in the mailing list .
I bought a computer with 80 GB HDD and 1 GB of RAM with pentium core 2 duo
processor ,i want to install RHEL5 & Win XP in that,but my requirement is
i have to have Linux as My primary OS n from that i ve to access win xp
from linux using VM ware or Sun Virtual Box 1.6. In the near future i also
have plans for installing Oracle 9i in my system .. so help me out in
installin both t Operating systems n virtual box without any problems
ASAP.
If you are paying for RHEL5 then go for it ..else dont . If you look
for an enterprise like solution go for CentOS or if you will be using
the computer as a home PC go for Fedora . People may suggest many more
distro's .take a good look and settle on what you need .
In order to dual boot with Windows ..install WinXP first as you do
normally . Leave a 25 GB partion (what you call in windows) ,I 'd
suggest a freespace of 25 gig . While installing linux use that 25 gig
of space .
Now do whatever you want to do with Windows .
and use linux .
i wont suggest oracle 9i in windows over virtual machine though you
can do that .But you can access windows partions and file from linux
too . and have oracle 9i in your windows partition .
But however its ultimately your choice .
