[Ilugc] Games equivalent to Windows in Linux

Oh well. The thing is that the focus of GNU/Linux is slightly
different. Just like Windows would never have 80% of the super
computers running on it, GNU/Linux would possibly never be the best
gaming system.
However, we do play a few games over the LAN on a lazy Saturday
evening in our lab.
1. Enemy Territory: From the brilliant Wolfenstein series. There is so
much more to do than just point, click and frag. You have to build
bridges, rescue people, handle logistics and supply ammo (Each
avtar you take has a different goal). Brilliant, and FOSS [1]
2. Assault Cube: Want a frag-respawn-refrag FPS? This can do it. You
have death-matches, capture the flag, Team matches etc. Fun to
play, but I am not too much of an FPS fan.
3. Eat The Whistle: Want to play that soccer game from your 8-bit
console again, here you go.
4. We also play Dopewars and Poker (pokerth) if we feel like it.
5. A nice one player if you have a small enough keyboard is Frets on
Fire. Try it.
If you aren't looking at only Libre software, you could also try Live
For Speed, Counter Strike, Commandos: BEL etc on Wine
Note: One or more of the following may be there in Ubuntu by
default. I am not going to give you tips about Non-free games, though.
