[Ilugc] GUI problem

i am using ubuntu 9.04
suddenly my system crashed.
i am not able to get my GUI mode.once after system boot i am getting a
command prompt
i gave startx command it didn't work,how to solve this problem.

If you have happened to update your kernel recently using apt-get (since
sometimes this also updates the firmware) or something like that and also if
your system has a dedicated graphics card, try recompiling the graphics card
module with the new kernel headers.
