Most likely it is run thro' tcpd/xinetd. Please look up
/etc/xinetd.d/ftp file. Set disable = no and restart xinetd. In case you
still have problems of cionnection refused, check hosts.allow and
hosts.deny.

hi,
i have problem .I'm running RH7.3 and have proftp running on that
.when i try to open that it is connecting and immediatly
disconnecting saying the follwoing message
[root@smctest root]# ftp smctest
Connected to smctest (127.0.0.1).
421 Service not available, remote server has closed connection
ftp> bye
The same thing when i try to connect from remote machines also
when i checked the chkconfig it says that that service is running
.
Please help how to make my ftp work .
