Good idea. But I have to say IITM is one of the best places to be. The wild
beauty and quiet of the place... It is the best place for the meet
[3] Start your own LUG in your college and have LUG meets on Sunday.
May be few from ilugc can also participate in your meets.
We still won't have people like Kapil ji, Raman and Bharathi. We will just
be a bunch of enthusiastic students who keep coming in in cycles. We
will keep reinventing the wheel. Also ILUGC is well established. So you
will get better speakers. I remember a Portuguese speaker came once to
deliver a talk on err... some Skype equivalent if I am not wrong. At every
announcement of speeches, I curse my misfortune for not being able to
be there.

My college does not offer a PG. And I missed IIT once (my JEE. I really
flopped in it. I am not missing it once more).
Also IITs are going to be cheaper to study in compared to self financing
deemed univs for the PGs and they have a solid reputation too.
