I would still prefer a person with a Computer Science degree.
with due respect I bank on my experience of nearly 20 years of employing
people in this field. I have yet to find any correlation between a CS
degree and sysadmin (or programming) ability. Only one thing I have
noticed is that EEE and ECE people seem pretty good in this respect.
My apologies for triggering the instigation. We would definitely
consider a non CS candidate if he is really passionate about the work,
has penchant for technology and has taken extra efforts to learn things
on his own. We highly appreciate the enthusiasm to learn, passion and
energy one could bring on the board.
I'll revise my requirements accordingly.
