I had an interesting experience to share. i was very enthusiastic and
proposed setting a computer center for the labourer's nearby. But the
sponsors raised the following question.
1. The purpose of the training center is to make the people employeable.
Will training on open source source softwares like openoffice create any
employment for them?
2. They are not going to learn technical stuf.. They will learn what is
required in the market..
I have no answer for this, as i am sure, none of the business offices use
open source softwares.
Just wanted to share with you all.

Hi All,then
Things have kind of started. We have hired a teacher from the community
. A ITI computer student. She will teach 3 hours in the evening and
on Sundays.
We are currently training the teacher, Kalapana and two other students
mani and prabhu who are very keen to learn. They in turn teach the
others.

Great going, guys.
Just a suggestion: how about replacing slumdweller with something like
'underprivileged' ! The term slumdweller might have a negative
connotation in some circles.
