[Ilugc] C integration with MySQL

I use Fedora Core 5. I want to access my MySQL databases through C code.
   
  I understand that i have to add -lmysqlclient while compiling my C Program
   
  but i get the error that 
  cannot find -lmysqlclient
   
  Can you guys tell me exactly which package to install to get this working.
