What switch do you have at the other end of the links? Yes, you
certainly will have to configure the switch ports for load balancing
over multiple NICs. Cisco switches running IOS supports this feature
(not sure of CatOS).
Your ping test failing is understandable; the switch is confused
because your server MAC appears on several ports ("flapping").
of the server, it is reverting to half duplex. In the
switch level, the port has been set to full duplex.
What should be done for the changes to be made permanent.
Don't bother. half duplex is what has been negotiated as the best link
for your network. Leave it as it is.
