Due to the Tamil New Year festival on Apr 14th,
this month meet is postponed to Sat Apr 21st.
I would like to request some one to take a session on fonts, encoding,
input methods, keyboard... the inter relation between them...
would expect the lecture to cover:
1) brief history of fonts, encodings, keyboard layouts, input methods
2) Keyborad Layouts... (from indian languages perspective... not
QWERTY or Dvorak, particularly Tamil...)
2) Different types of fonts etc., how computer manipulates ??+? = ??
and displays its etc.,
3) Encoding... Unicode in particular and basic intro as to how to
write a C/ C++ program with the replacement of "Hello World" to be
something like "??????? ???????!" :-)
4) Input Methods.. SCIM, SKIM etc., and how to design our own keyboard
layouts...
5) how are all these inter-related...
any one?
