News like these always threatens us somehow as M$ tries to capture the

Don't worry - Windows Mobile has been mostly a failure. Even the much-
ballyhooed Palm Treo 700w, which was hailed as a transition by Palm
away from PalmOS to Windows Mobile, has seen sales far lower than
expected. Palm will pull the plug and move back to PalmOS (most
probably as an app on an underlying Linux virtualizer) sooner or later.
There's now a consortium of Japanese manufacturers who want to
standardize a mobile Linux base-platform:

Since it includes NTT Docomo, Samsung, Vodafone and consumer
electronics Godzilla Panasonic (aka Matsushita Electric), it should be
M$ that should be seriously worried now. Windows Mobile is more
or less extinct in Smartphones.
