[Ilugc] 64bit processor not supporting

I am using FC3-x86_64 edition on Athlon 64 for quite some time and so
far have not encountered any problems.
Previously I had FC1_i386 edition on the same machine and didn't faced
any issues.
BTW, is the 64bit processor an Intel Itanium? I think the itanium is
based on the IA-64 architecture and so the above builds dont work on
them. (Can some one on the list provide more thoughts on this).
