Hi,
Afaik, WMV ASF and MP3 codecs certainly cannot be
deemed free. VirtualDub project was asked to drop
support for ASF by microsoft
http://www.advogato.org/article/101.html
And I believe the same applies for WMV.
MP3 codecs need a licence from Thomson and Fraunhofer
and it never was a free format.

HI,
http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/java-trap.html
This article on gnu.org, makes me raise some
questions..
I use .MOV , .WMV, .ASF and .MP3 codecs to play
multimedia files on xine or mplayer.
Do these codecs qualify as F/OS Software ?
Can these codecs be used in Industry for Professional
use without any Licensing Issues ?
