Mark & Randy, If you're not doing so already, I highly recommend that you use IDF 3.0 . This version has ownership tags that allow MCAD or ECAD to retain control over the items. I also discourage the use of idf_nodelete. The setting tells idf_in to ignore all sections of the IDF file except the placement section. You don't need it with IDF 3.0. Also, the IDF format does not support cutouts for keepouts or keepins. Cutouts are only supported in Board Outline and Other Outline. There is a Best Practices paper in the help doc called Working with IDF. (BTW, this paper acknowledges Andy Kulik's paper). Good morning, I have a PROE (.emn) file I have imported through IDF_IN an am experiencing some issues. I have package keepouts over package keepouts on top side. See attached jpg... TOP SIDE PACKAGE KEEPOUT: 1. Shape over entire board with 480 Mil max height. (comes over fine) 2 Two areas under shied of 355 mil max height. (comes over two duplicate shaped on top of each other) one = zero height and the other = 355mil max. height. 3. "Figure eight" (green shape for mounting area must be zeoro height for NO components where mounted to board) This comes over a solid rectangular shape the size of the outer extents of the green area. Should be hollowed out for the two dark blue shapes that must be 355mil height. We have worked with the ME and it appears he is defining it properly during export from Pro-E. I really do not want to have to modify the shapes after importing IDF if at all possible. Also, where can I set up preferences fro IDF_IN such as over-write existing keepouts or not? I saw that Andeas Kulik wrote a paper on IDF_IN....hint, hint! Thanks in advance for any suggestions, Mark I also vote for NOT removing this forum! ________________________________________________________________________ _____ Scanned by IBM Email Security Management Services powered by MessageLabs.
