Hi Gary: I replied to a similar inquiry on this forum in great detail, quite a while back; unfortunately, I have had to purge my excess e-mail nor remember where it may be stored in archive. Here are a few points about DFA: The DFA matrix works in conjunction with your library parts and the DFA_comp_type values you construct. (That being said, your librarian "property" ducks need to be in a row before you can tap into the DFA use model with any success.) It works off of the DFA_Placebound_top/bot shape on your pyhsical symbols but will also check against the perimeter of legacy Placebound_top/bot features if that is all you have. (Side to side, Edge to Edge and Side to Edge HUD Heads up display in "real time" is also supported with this use model, but only in the Place manually mode, (not the MOVE mode). IMO this is the proper use model for modern SMD pick and place methodology because of the differing interaction between different component types, constrasted to a go/no go when placebounds exceed tangency. Gotta goooooh. I have not, and I have a job lined up where the guy is asking if I've used it. The license I use is the "Performance option L" (ver. 16.2 on Windows XP Pro), and I'm not even sure if placement using the DFA spreadsheet is available to me. Thanks for any help you can give me! Regards, Gary MacIndoe
