I am running 4.2.

Cadence support suggested I add this text to the allegro.men file (and the apd.men file):

POPUP "A&nsoft"
BEGIN
MENUITEM "Launch AnsoftLinks...", "skill runAnsLinks()"
MENUITEM "Launch SIwave...", "skill runSIWave()"
MENUITEM "Launch TPA...", "skill runTPA()"
MENUITEM "Write Ansoft Neutral File V2", "skill writeNeutralFile()"
MENUITEM "Write Ansoft Neutral File V4", "skill writeANFP()"
MENUITEM "Write SIwave Component File", "skill writeComponentFile()"
END

...but I'm still getting the same error message. There must be some other files I need to update that I'm not aware of.

What version of Ansoftlinks do you have? I believe that 4.2 is the earliest version that works with Allegro; from the 4.2 “bugfix” list:

12) Numerous bug fixes and third party translation issues have been addressed:

ANSft00079291 Error when writing ANF file from Allegro.

Thank you - now that I have AnsoftLinks loaded on my system, I can see the pull-down menu, but when I try to "Write Ansoft Neutral File V2", I get this:

ERROR
E- *Error* eval: undefined function - writeNeutralFile

Any idea of what I'm missing? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Alexis,

You will need Ansoftlinks software in order to do this. This is a cost option and once installed, there's a plug inside Allegro to allow you to output ANF file.

One of our engineers has asked if I can extract a .anf from Allegro (to run simulations using Ansoft HFSS). I have Allegro XL 16.2 on my system, and he has Ansoft HFSS on his system. Is there a way for me to extract the file and send it to him, or does he need to extract it from Allegro using HFSS? Any info would be greatly appreciated - thanks.
