Hi Jenny: It just occurred to me that I should probably confirm how to restore before I try it. I'm assuming that I can go to utilities, select back up, and then select the date that I want to restore and press the select key? Is this correct??? Looks like you just reflashed your unit. Did you press any other keys when you did the reset? Either way, if you've added nothing since updating to 1.1, restore your latest backup and you should be good to go. You might have to redownload some podcasts and articles in RSS, depending on what you had compared to the default feeds, how the databases match, etc, due to the fact that RSS now cleans up after you, and matches what's on the hard drive to the RSS database. But otherwise, everything should be restored to normal. jenny ----- Original Message ----- From: Tamara Rorie <mailto:tdrorie@xxxxxxx> To: icon-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, April 06, 2008 3:31 PM Subject: [icon-discuss] Re: Still wondering about my loss of all data Jenny: I was trying to access a wireless connection in the hotel. The BP saw the connection but I had to open the browser in order to pay for usage. When I opened the browser and clicked on the link to make payment, the BP completely stopped talking. I did a reboot using Pound, Star, and Program 1 but when the machine came back up, it still wasn't talking. I waited several minutes and got no speech nor would it turn off using the apps key. So, Finally, I took the cover off and pressed the reset button. When the unit came back up, it was speaking at the default speed (I had it speaking much faster), and all of my data, and settings were gone. Even the rss feeds that I had deleted were back and the ones that I added were gone. So, basically, it went back to the factory settings. Fortunately, I am still running 1.1. But that's where I am at this point. Any suggestions? Oh, I just checked the folders under file explorer. There ar 18 listed and when I go into the music folder my music is still there. However, when I go to the music player the list is empty. What to do next?? Not saying you were wrong in doing it, rather, just wonder if the cause of it has anything to do with what happened. Also, what happens now when you open your hard drive in File Explorer? What's listed? All of my books, my rss info, my email, all settings, etc. Can anyone tell me if this can be retrieved by restoring one of the backups? Also, would there be a problem if I restored a backup that was generated before I upgraded? Any info is much appreciated. Thanks, Tamara _____ No virus found in this incoming message. Checked by AVG.
