Hi:

Anytime you're having a problem like this, you should always try a Reset, 
Reboot, and/or reflash, if necessary.  One of those will usually solve the 
problem.  I hate to have someone send something in that could have been 
corrected by doing one of these methods.

Also, an update wouldn't hurt, but you might want to try those things first.

it has come to my attention that i am one of several users of this listserv for 
whom the braille plus quick record function does not work. it worked for me one 
time--the first week i had the unit--and has not functioned since that time. 
the problem is not the #1.1 update, as i am running version #1.06. any 
suggestions as to how to resolve this problem short of sending a brand new unit 
in for repair, which i am not willing to do at this point?
