Richard,

I would find it very distracting to have both sound sources coming from the same set of speakers or headphones. Oh well, different strokes for different folks.

Hi Steve;
Apparently folks want to listen to an audio book and have some music in the
background. Haven't tried it myself.

Richard,

What do you think of the idea of allowing only one instance of the audio
player to run? I can't think of any reason why you'd want to have more than
one instance running, but someone out there might be able to come up with
one.

Subject: [icon-discuss] accidental echo with rss

I have a Braille Plus running software version 1.10 build 37.
Last night I was listening to podcasts in the rss program. As I navigated
to the next podcast I wanted to play and was starting to press on the
select button to launch the audio player, my finger twitched and I pressed
the select twice in less than a second by accident. I waited to see what
would happen. A few seconds later Leo Laporte started playing but about a
second after that the same podcast started playing again as an echo. This
weird echo effect continued for a while until I pressed select to pause
playing the podcast. The pause only effected one copy of the podcast. That
is to say, Leo kept talking but the echo was gone because one was paused
while the other kept playing. I wasn't sure if I had somehow managed to
launch two copies of the audio player or what! Thinking I might have
screwed something up, I then pressed cancel and exited all the way out of
the rss program, made sure all other programs were closed, and then did a
restart with the star-number-program1 combination. After restart completed
and I set my clock back to correct time, I went back into the rss program
and successfully played several podcasts with no further obvious problem.
Suggestion to the developers: You might consider doing some kind of
keystroke supression by turning off keyboard interrupts briefly in
situations where key bounce could cause problems like I ran into. I didn't
try to duplicate the above situation so can't say how easy it will be to
reproduce. Maybe I just hit a sweet spot in timing that would rarely if
ever happen again or maybe anyone can do it by hitting the select button
twice quickly.
