Hi list:
I am so frustrated now, I can't even hardly type this message. So, remember
my 2 RSS posts before? Well, both problems are still occurring after
reflashes, and after the 1.06.28 update and the 1.1.1 update. So, I thought
I found a solution. Here is what I was doing:
1. Making a opml export of my feeds.
2. Closing the RSS reader.
3. Opening file explorer, and then opening the hard drive.
4. Deleting the .rss folder.
5. Deleting the podcasts folder.
6. Deleting the RSS.db file in the DB folder on the hard drive.
7. Opening the internal flash disk.
8. Opening the home folder.
9. Opening the root folder.
10. Opening the DB folder.
11. Deleting rss.db.
12. Closing file explorer.
13. Opening the RSS reader.
14. Importing the feeds from the OPML file.
So, I thought this worked. I could deal with my feeds for a day or 2, and
then the problem came back instantly. I did this time after time after
time. Here is what was causing the error:
1. Sometimes, I was connected to my wireless network, but with a very weak
signal.
2. With a 100 percent signal, the RSS would lock and make the click sound
after the updating feed message was up there for 4 seconds. Before, it
would wait about a minute, and then it would go on to the next feed and say,
error, urlipen error, temporary failure in name resolution, grater than.
3. It would say that there was no such feed address for blind cool tech,
the subscription address has always been:
http://www.blindcooltech.com/bct.xml
or:
http://www.aph.org/tech/bct.xml
I checked the website, and these are correct. But, the RSS reader says they
are not.
Any help on this problem?
The second problem:
All of the podcasts marked or cued for download all start downloading at
once, and then it locks up. This is a bad bug, I think.
The next problem:
After the feeds are updated, and you set the option to automatically
download podcasts after a feed update, it doesn't show the download manager.
The next problem:
The Icon or Braille Plus sits there on a podcast, and doesn't realize that
the file has been removed. On Blind Cool Tech, the eberhard Hinrich Intro
was on I think:
http://cdn1.libsyn.com/bct/bct11423eberhinrichentro.mp3/Ebererd Hinrich
Intro .mp3
It has only downloaded that podcast once, on any podcatcher on any computer
or any device. The old version of software would tell me that the file
wasn't found. Now, it just sits there like a dumb person waiting on
something that doesn't even exist.
The next problem, yes, there are more:
My little articles problem has gotten bigger. I have tried everything from
everyone, but nothing worked. It won't even open articles from the last
feed update now.
The next problem: My podcasts are supposedly getting downloaded, but when I
try to play them, they say "error file not found, switching status to marked
for download". This takes about 5 seconds to do.
The next problem:
The settings don't seem to work anymore. I go into settings, and change my
settings, but then they don't effect my feeds in anyway. I am pressing okay
when I am done. The RSS reader just doesn't obey. However, when I open the
settings menu again, the settings are what I changed them to.
The next issue:
When I go to open the RSS reader, it takes about 45 seconds, and then it
finally says, loading feeds. It takes another 29 seconds for them to load.
Another problem:
All podcasts that are cued for download won't unmark when I press select.
What is the difference between marked and cued anyway?
The final problem:
In the download manager, after a podcast finishes downloading, the podcasts
below it disappear. I have to reopen the download manager, and then it will
show the current who knows how many podcast that are downloading.
Does anybody have any ideas?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
As I said earlier, I can't even use the unit's RSS features or the podcast
features now.
All of these problems happen on both of my units.

Note: Most RSS readers and Podcatchers don't support this type of feed.
You can try, however, you just might have to open the page in Internet
Explorer and see what happens.
