I completely agree with that! I myself am a Dectalk fan. I like the Dectalk's voices, specially Paul. I like the old classic Dectalk speech than the newer fonix one. The older dectalk versions sound more human-like, and I noticed that the older version, the inflections sound better than the newer versions. So it would be great if the icon/bp could let you install your own synthesizers. And yes, Dectalk doesn't take up much room as the more natural sounding voices like RealSpeak Solo. ----- Original Message ----- From: Beth Terranova To: icon-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, August 31, 2008 12:58 PM Subject: [icon-discuss] DECTalk Hi, all. Research has shown me that DECTalk can run on Linux and on PDAs. I also learned that DECTalk has an extremely small footprint, if not the smallest. I would love to see DECTalk as a choice, keeping Eloquence. This could work in two ways--either you choose Eloquence or DECTalk to be loaded on your Icon or the two could reside on one unit and you choose with a keystroke or combo thereof which you want at any given time. The DECTalk sound I'm referring to is that of version 4.50, I think Access 32 has the same sound, not that horrible accented DECTalk used on mobile phone screen readers. I love accents when people speak, not with a Synthesizer. I have heard that version 4.50 is just for Windows, I just mention it here to express the sound to which I am referring. Thank you for your consideration of this matter and I hope it someday comes to fruition. Beth
