Mike LaBonte conducted the meeting.

Review of previous meeting minutes:
Mike LaBonte noted that Aug 21 minutes had been sent, but Aug 14 was in
progress.
Bob Ross moved to approve the Aug 21 minutes, Lance Wang seconded. Without
objection
the minutes were approved.
ARs:

- Having IT troubles, need to check Aug 14 minutes and send.
New IBISCHK bugs:
- No new bugs.
IBISCHK615:
Bob Ross said a vote would be held this Friday on the contract. Mike LaBonte
said he did not see that motion in the minutes, and no solicitation was sent.
No motion would be made until the contract price is known. Bob said he intended
to move to schedule the vote in the next Open Forum meeting.
IBISCHK700 parser development:
Mike showed drafted 11. We changed 6.1.4 to 6.1.5 and the title for Jose Godoy.
This
was saved as draft 12.
Bob Ross noted that BIRD147.7 calls for BCI_Protocols begin with "IBIS" to be
reserved.
Mike showed BIRD147.6, noting that it says nothing about case. Bob said we
could
post a website file that IBISCHK7 would consult to allow IBIS names. Mike said
we
would need to seek member opinions about having IBISCHK do web lookup. Being
off
the Internet could result in failures. An alternative would be a local file
listing
approved protocols. Bob asked if the protocols might need to be secret. Mike
said they
would not. Bob said there should be a warning for unapproved protocols. Mike
noted
that a web lookup would be needed only for IBIS*. He described a 3 part
procedure.
1) Check against internal table (in code).
2) Check against a local resource file.
3) Download the latest resource file from the IBIS website.
Bob thought a simpler approach would be better. He did not want to have new
parser
releases for new protocols. Mike noted that we might have few protocols
proposed,
and they must be well described. Bob said we should avoid having new BIRDs for
each
protocol, and we should not have new ibischk releases for each protocol. He
said
there should be an official text list of protocol names with their descriptive
documents
Bob described a similar approach for the proposed [Specification] keyword. A
downloadable
text file could have two columns.
1) JEDEC spec name
2) Bus name (DQ, etc.)
Mike said the JEDEC spec should be associated by pin. Bob said it could be by
[Model].
Mike noted that some parts have operating margins more accommodating than what
JEDEC
requires. Bob said the EDA tools would likely implement different checks.
