-----------------------MINUTES ---------------------------
Mike LaBonte conducted the meeting.

AR Review:

- Moshiul send DDR2 JEDEC spec
  - This was sent May 29

New items:

- Discussion of recent IBIS summit:
  - Mike, Bob, and David felt that it went well.
  - David expected to see more people.
  - Lance Wang had asked why the ibischk -caution option is needed
    - The concern would be for large numbers of caution messages.
    - Kim felt there might be an option to suppress the messages,
instead of an option to show them.
    - Moshiul said that many people use VisualIBIS, and may not
see the caution messages if it does not use the option.
    - Mike suggested that categorizing would be good
      - Should be able to suppress classes of messages
      - Print all errors first, then warnings, etc.
    - Bob said the next parser release would be soon
      - We would have to act quickly if we want to suggest a change.
      - After that the next release might be next year
      - Mike wondered if VisualIBIS might have plans to use the option
    - Most members felt the option should not be needed, none objecting.

AR: Bob contact Steve Kaufer about their plans for the -caution flag
AR: Bob work with IBIS committee to make ibischk cautions show by default

- Proposal from Agilent to making the golden parser more friendly
  - Bob explained that the parser was not originally designed to be
    a product front end.
  - Example: strings.h is generic
  - Mike thought the original request to the IQ group was to provide
a place for documents, not a discussion forum.
    - Bob understood it to be for discussion.
  - Mike suggested that maybe there should be a separate ad-hoc group
    to discuss parser code issues
    - Only 2 IQ members have the source code
    - No EDA vendors participating regularly
    - Mike will contact Michael Mirmak

AR: Mike contact Michael Mirmak to discuss parser code issues

- Mike was contacted by Takeshi Watanabe, representing JEITA
  - The JEITA EDA working group has been reviewing the IQ spec
  - They will provide their comments to us by the end of August
  - JEITA wants to promote IQ use among member IC suppliers

Continued review of IQ specification:

3.3.4. {LEVEL 3} [Diff Pin] referenced pin models matched
- We would want this check passing to simulate for waveforms
- We agreed to change this to level 2

AR: Mike change 3.3.4 to level 2

3.4.1. {LEVEL 2} [Model Selector] referenced [Model]s exist
- Ibischk catches this
- We agreed to delete this check

AR: Mike delete 3.4.1

3.4.2. {LEVEL 2} [Model Selector] first [Model] is default
- Mike said the original IBIS specification had no such requirement,
and EDA vendors assumed the practice ad-hoc.
  - Moshiul read the portion of the current IBIS specification that
    does now specify this.
- It is not possible for ibischk to check this.
- Roy suggested the check could be deleted
- Mike suggested we could have 2 checks:
  - Dependencies between [Model Selector]s must be documented
  - Usage notes for [Model Selector] must be documented
- Mike has found IBIS files with [Model Selector], but indication
in the IBIS file or part datasheet how they would be used.
- Bob felt that comments on the [Model Selector] entry lines are best
- Mike agreed that comments in the [Notes] section might become out
of sync with the [Model Selector] sections
  - But [Notes] should at least say that there are [Model Selectors]

AR: Mike write a check about dependencies between [Model Selector]s
AR: Moshiul write a check about documentation of [Model Selector]s
