Minutes from the 22 Mar 2017 IBIS Interconnect Task Group meeting are attached.
Also draft 4 of BIRD 189.1 has been posted to the work archive for easy review
access. The intent is for this to be submitted to the IBIS Open Forum this
week, unless email discussion indicates further changes are required.

BIRD189.1 Draft 3:
Michael showed the BIRD draft. It corrects minor editorial issues. New
figures from Randy
Wolff have been inserted. Michael said the new figure is useful to illustrate
crosstalk and
Aggressor_only. The two outer lines might be labeled Aggressor_only. Bob said
"Path" should
be "Paths" in the figure caption. He asked why those lines might be labeled
Aggressor_only.
Michael said the paths at the edge do not model crosstalk contributors on the
other side.
Mike suggested it should be noted that these four paths are actually part of a
wider bus.
Bob noted that every other line could be Aggressor_only, because the spec does
not constrain this.
Arpad suggested that the word "connections" should be changed to something
else. Michael
suggested it might be "terminals". Walter said connections are usually
everything on a signal
name, connected by some low impedance, and that that should not be confusing.
Mike asked if
Aggressor_only needed to be only on one terminal of a path. Walter said that
if one is found
on a signal the entire signal is Aggressor_only. Michael edited the text to
clarify the usage
of Aggressor_only.
Bob noted that the parser will not care if all terminals on a path have
Aggressor_only.
Mike suggested that if a model implements no coupling at all then every
terminal might be
Aggressor_only. Arpad asked if an Aggressor_only line can be used for
uncoupled analysis.
Walter said it could. Michael showed the Aggressor_only definition in the
BIRD. Bob said
that it was an informative parameter. Arpad said the second sentence of the
text implied that
Aggressor_only means the coupling is there. Michael noted that one sentence
had the opposite
of the intended meaning. He changed the word "omit" to "include". He also
changed "document"
to "indicate incomplete". Michael said If all models had all coupling then
Aggressor_only
would never appear. Arpad suggested that the second sentence should have "full
coupling".
Michael said the second sentence should also have "that are not included".
Mike suggested
changing the second instance of "document" to "indicate"?
Michael showed Table 41. Bob suggested that the horizontal table border lines
between groups
could be thicker to separate the groups. Michael said we also needed to
consistently follow
the order pin, signal, bus, pad. Some sections in the outline above were not
consistent.
Michael made the edits.
Michael showed the Unused_port_termination rules. He said Radek had suggested
we state that
EDA tools can do what they want for unused terminals. It now states that they
technically
remain open, but adjustments might be made to avoid numerical issues. Bob
noted that we did
not specify using a 1MOhm resistor as in the original version. Michael noted
that the only thing
we had not completely resolved was the Aggressor_only language.
Bob suggest that figure 42 should have annotations to show the Aggressor_only
lines. Randy
suggested that that might go in the bottom right corner of the figure. Bob
said it should be
clear that it's optional.
Michael said the updated BIRD would be sent out as draft 4, and that suggested
edits for the
Aggressor_only section would be sent and discussed by email. We decided there
would be no meeting
the following week, but the draft 4 version most likely would be submitted to
the Open Forum.
Mike moved to adjourn. Bob seconded. The meeting adjourned without objection.
