Dear colleagues worldwide,
Albert Dohmen, husband of longtime IASL member Lourense Das, has recently
been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer and is scheduled for
pain-relieving surgery on 12 January so that he may leave the hospital, as
he is too weak for chemotherapy or further treatments.
Lourense has served IASL as Regional Director - Europe and Vice President-
Association Operations, and is a school library consultant through Meles
Meles ND which she and Albert own.
If you attended IASL2015 in the Netherlands, you met Albert who kept ICT
and so many other details running smoothly, with a smile and all due speed
to get things done.
Lourense has said "If you want to send him a card you can do that via the
website of the hospital https://www.sjgweert.nl/bezoekers." I asked my web
browser to translate the site into English. Click on the green tab
'Visitors' to select a card & write your message. Albert is in room 358 of
the department of medical oncology at St. John's Hospital in Weert.
I pray that the surgical team is successful in relieving Albert's intense
pain, so that he and Lourense may enjoy their time together, away from the
hospital.
