thanks carl, I already know about the inverters. However it seems somewhat wasteful to convert dc to ac, then back to dc. I don't know much electronics theory yet, however I did speculate something. Let mw know if there is error in this thinking. Since a computer needs 12vdc, and 5 vdc, can't I just connect the 12vdc directly up to the computer, and the use a resister or something to lower the voltage to 5 volts? In terms of amps, I guess I would need something to lower that too. Also, the only thing I am powerin is a motherboard, soundcard, and hard drive. The computer will be controlled via voice commands, I till be my mp3 player!
