Anything that will degrease will expedite the rust process if you don’t oil the
mags aftger cleaning them. Wipe them down with an oil rag, than wipe all the
oil off - the very small that remains will prevent the problems caused with
the metal being “totally bare”.
Wiping the bulk of the cosmo off then brake clean (or any other carcinogenic
solvent) should clean them up nicely.

hey guys,
word is the magazines coming are going to be covered in cosmoline.
What’s the fastest way to remove this without expediting the rust process?
I’ve heard gasoline bath, engine degreaser, brake cleaner… I don’t use oil
on the inside of my magazines, just a dab on the spring if anything. All input
is appreciated.
