[hllug] How do I mount a thumbdrive in Debian?

Lisa's PCLinuxOS just pops up and says it's found a removable storage
device, when I plug in a thumbdrive and want's to know what to do with it,
rather like XP, but I'm darned if I can figure out how to access it in
Debian.
suggestions would be most welcome.
