Thanks for the update Paul. On the spreadsheet in the "Last activity or
correspondence" column is not updated often. If I notice your callsign show
up on one of the reports or on RBN I'll update the activity or if I just
receive an email from someone that tells me they are active I will update it.
My purpose in doing this is just to call my attention to whether or not a ham
is still around and/or still has an interest in keeping his/her beacon on the
air. I don't even investigate if the date in that column is less than 11
months, which is the maximum search results available from RBN and the beacon
does not have to have a reception report to be updated. It's just my way of
determining if this person is gone for good from this facet of the hobby or is
still around. If I haven't heard from someone in over a year and there are no
known reception reports, then I send an inquiry. I'm trying not to
micro-manage.

Jerry,
I see that I have been inactive since 10/26/23. I'm back on the air now. I
had to use the beacon power supply to trouble shoot a problem with my HF rig
(TS-590SG) just shutting off for no reason. It turned out that pulling out the
in-line fuse and reseating it was the fix. After that, I got lazy and never
got around to hooking the beacon back up. But on Thursday, I bought a used
antenna tuner and that motivated me to reassemble everything and test out the
tuner. Looking forward to seeing my beacon heard again. 73

As of today, and to my knowledge there are officially 310 beacons on the
active list in Region 2 but about 49 of them are temporarily down due to
equipment failures and QTH moves and another 11 have been inactive for more
than 1 year. I use RBN, emails from beacon owners, and reception reports from
others to determine if a beacon is active or not. Some that I have have moved
to the inactive list may in fact be active.
Please let me know if any corrections need to be made. The list can be
viewed at the following link. Once there, click on the word "here." in blue in
the 2nd paragraph. Note that there are 3 tabs- Active, Inactive, and Available
Frequencies on the spreadsheet. Make sure you are on the correct tab!!
I use Open Office which is compatible with XCEL and is available for FREE to
anyone who wants it.
