Dang!
I saw a weird distant loon last night at the reservoir near the dam. His
head was tucked the whole time.
Might have been him.

I spent over an hour following a Pacific Loon up Sandy River Reservoir (e.
Prince Edward Co.) this morning. I first saw it with a Common Loon near the
dam, and it was last seen heading south (up the lake) at about 11:25, still
with the Common Loon. It was not in view when I left. A scope is
recommended for anyone trying to spot it.
Sandy River Reservoir is east of Farmville off US 460. The main boat ramp
/ parking area is off Monroe Church Road (SR 640), which turns south off US
460. The loons were last seen from a small parking area at the end of SR
605 (Gates-Bass Road), which turns off Green Bay Road (SR 696).
