Had a nice day of birding around Prince Edward and part of Charlotte
yesterday.
After stops and Wilck's and Briery not yielding any ducks, I stopped at a
back road pond Mike told me about that is a short distance southeast of the
Briery 701 Boat Ramp. It was loaded with ducks, including several REDHEAD
and a single GREEN-WINGED TEAL:

Greenfield in Charlotte County had the usual RED-HEADED WOODPECKERS calling
across the marsh. I headed north to look for the LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE on
County Line Road and spent nearly two unsuccessful hours searching:

Before I left, I drove west back along the road to the large field and
right before the Bethlehem Road junction. The shrike was perched on the
powerline directly over the road. He then flew into a large oak tree at the
edge of the road in Charlotte County. I drove back past four times and
eventually got some decent photos. A pair of KESTRELS and KILLDEER were
also in the field:

Final stop of the day was Sandy River Reservoir. The resident BARRED OWL
flew right in front of the car and perched in a tree. While most of the
photos came out blurry because it was fairly dark, a few were pretty clear
as I tip-toed toward him. One LESSER SCAUP and a HORNED GREBE were the
other highlights:
