Hello list.
BeOS came with a telnet and ftp server built in... will Haiku have
that? Personally, I'd much prefer (Open)sshd out of the box, with easy
launching/killing (like the Telnet/FTP servers in R5). Does anybody
still use telnet? It's supposedly full of holes, too...
Everyone still uses telnet more or less and, yes, it is a security
nightmare but it works nonetheless.
Apologies if this has been covered before.
Not accepted as you could have searched the archives!
Security issues with telnet are so *old* and well-known that people
should know how to deal with them, ie. be very careful who gets what
access to the system on what port. TBH SSH isn't so much better which
is one of the reasons why OpenBSD will not accept a remote root
login. You can try and prevent all you like but that won't stop the
idiots! Cue "Empeach the............."
