As a temporary work-around a quick and dirty solution is fine, but for a
real port, please fix the paths instead. As Scott already wrote, in case of
autotools based software that's only a matter of specifying the correct
prefix when configuring.
BTW, HaikuPorts has a mailing list, which is just the right one for
discussing porting issues.
